One line from my conversation with Jess Robertson stuck with me:
If connection only happens on our terms, kids stop inviting us into their world.
Not because parents are selfish. Because life is full. We choose what’s efficient or what we enjoy and call it family time.
Kids feel the difference.
Here’s a simple reset you can try tonight:
- Create 10 minutes of one-on-one time
- Ask what they want to do
- Join fully, no phone, no multitasking
- If it’s something unfamiliar, let them teach you
You’re not raising a child to fit your world. You’re building a relationship.
